Dear Delegates, Faculty Members, and Sponsors:
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2010 UC Berkeley Model United Nations Conference! The conference will be held Thursday February 25th- Sunday February 28th, 2010 at the Grand Hyatt Union Square in San Francisco.
UCBMUNC has always strived to expand its conference in size and scope. In addition to being the most prestigious West Coast collegiate conference, UCBMUNC offers a diverse selection of committees that suit both the first-time and seasoned delegates. In addition to our standard General Assembly committees, we will also be including the Economic and Financial committee, a Committee on Social Development, and a semi-crisis G-20 summit whose topics will not be released until a few weeks before the conference. The Crisis staff and I are also excited to bring you the most dynamic assortment of crisis committees yet: two historical crises-a World War II Joint Cabinet and the Roman Senate-a US Special Defense Council on Afghanistan, The Arab League, and the UN Security Council. All our chairs, staff members, and the Secretariat have been working tirelessly and are eager to share their knowledge and passion for their topics with you in February.
The location of this year's conference could not be any more perfect. Situated in the heart of Union Square, the Grand Hyatt offers unparalleled location, breathtaking views of the city, and easy access to all the main attractions. You can leave the hotel lobby and be in Saks Fifth Avenue in a heartbeat, stroll over to Chinatown for lunch, take a ferry to Alcatraz island, or try endless samples of the most delectable treats at Ferry Market on Saturday morning-all within a few blocks of committee! And don't forget to save room for dessert! Grab a Ghirardelli sundae or a box full of gourmet cupcakes and then head up to the 36th floor of the Grand, where we'll be hosting our "Delegate Dance and Posh Party" against the backdrop of San Francisco at night!
