Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my honor and delight to invite you to the 2009 University of California Berkeley's Model United Nations Conference. It will be held from Thursday, March 5th to Sunday, March 8th in San Francisco near the famous Fisherman's Wharf.
As the premier collegiate West Coast conference, UCBMUNC offers delegates from over 35 universities and colleges a chance to take on challenging issues in committees that span time and space. The most experienced delegates will find their skills tested and those attending a conference for the first time will find a warm welcome. Included in our crisis and specialized committees this year are OPEC, the International Court of Justice, and the Trojan War - which promises to be truly epic. Our chairs are knowledgeable and passionate about their committees, and they have selected remarkably diverse topics that are geared towards productive debate. The entire staff is committed to making this conference as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
Time outside of committee can be well spent discovering beautiful San Francisco, whether it be strolling along Pier 39, taking a ferry to Alcatraz or catching a glimpse of the Bushman. I would highly recommend the ice cream sundaes in nearby Ghirardelli Square, and the downtown shopping and arts centers that are just a cable-car ride away. Of course, the ultimate way to wrap up the conference is with the Delegate Soirée in one of the city's hottest nightclubs. After all, in the immortal words of Tupac Shakur, "California knows how to party."
Information regarding registration policies and deadlines can be found on our website. The staff and secretariat have been working hard so that our conference is a greater success than ever before, and I am proud to be able to share the results with you. I am certain that your delegates will have an engaging and memorable time at UCBMUNC 2009.
Please do not hesitate to contact the secretariat with any questions you may have. Thank you and I hope that you will join us for this incredible experience. See you in March!
Sincerely,
Brooke Su
